Description: The River Birch is known for its disease resistance, unique foliage and copper colored, peeling paper bark. It prefers to grow in full sun but can tolerate partial shade. River Birch is drought tolerant and grows well in wet soils that my experience extended flooding. It is a beautiful tree, grown both as a single stem or in clump form. Note that the river birch should only be transplanted in the spring.
