Description: The White Pine is the state tree of Michigan and one of the best native trees. It grows tall and fairly wide which makes it ideal for wind breaks and privacy screening. White pine regenerates its needles every three years or so, meaning that in the fall you can expect about one third of the needles on the tree to drop. It also will produce pine cones as the tree matures. Pine cone production is heaviest every 3-5 years. White pine needles make for excellent ground cover and fertilizer for the tree and surrounding plants.
